Who likes tattoos? I do, and apparently a large chunk of America does as well (judging by the 'insurgence' of "reality" TV shows that "document" the daily operations of tattoo parlors).
Let me briefly describe my system of quotations: it is, I think, unique to me, and therefore desires some explanation. When I use single apostrophes around a word (i.e. 'bastard'), I am setting up a distinction that it is someone else's phrasing I am mocking, perhaps slightly skewed in syntax. Perhaps taking that word out of the "common parlance" to comment on the absurdity of such a word. The satire is more subdued. When I use double apostrophes (i.e. "goddamn"), I am indulging myself in outright mockery. Because "reality" TV is both inane and a misnomer.
